Description

This position covers all facets of day-to-day cellar and packaging operations, including treating, clarifying, and transferring tanks, packaging finished beer in cans and/or kegs, as well as cleaning and sanitation of tanks and equipment.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Transferring of beer via hard and soft piping to finishing vessels
  • Cleaning and maintaining fermentation and finishing vessels according to standard operating procedure (SOP)
  • Clarifying of beer via centrifuge or other clarifying agent according to SOP
  • Record keeping of transfer yields, treatments, or other procedures
  • Perform lab testing on beer such as testing gravities, yeast cell counts, and yeast viability assessments
  • Daily monitoring of fermentations
  • Application of treatments such as dry hops, wood, or other additives according to SOP
  • Troubleshoot equipment and quality issues with team
  • Monitor and correct the carbonation of beer prior to packaging
  • Operate cellar equipment such as pumps, centrifuge, and bulldogs
  • Assemble and break down appropriate hose and part configuration depending on process
  • Adjust fermentation vessel temperatures in accordance to standard operating procedures
  • Communicate well with team
  • Cleaning and maintaining cellar equipment such as centrifuge and carbonation stones
  • Maintenance, filling, and emptying of barrels
  • Packaging finished beer via kegs and/or cans

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs to shoulder height and push or pull 160lbs
  • Must be able to work on your feet for 10 hours
  • Must be able to crouch, bend, lift, and reach
  • Must be able to work in hot, wet, and loud environment
  • Must be able to work with and around steam, electricity, harsh chemicals, and solvents
  • Continual moving, lifting, and manipulation of hoses, buckets, pumps, and other parts that require
    extended standing, lifting, crouching, and walking throughout shift

 

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities
  • Minimum of 1-year professional brewing and/or cellar experience is required
  • Ability to work varied shifts
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Attention to detail
  •  Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
